We’ve compiled the most active bloggers, influencers, networkers, and stars of 2021. A list of all those under 30. They enjoy great popularity on social media and for their social engagement in Haiti’s industry issues. They have made remarkable efforts to reach the youth and see their willingness to help as a conscious commitment to the microcosm of Haitian society.

Rose Lumane Saint-Jean (24 years old): She won the TV5MONDE Audience Award at the third edition of the International Eloquence Contest of the University of Paris-Nord-Panthéon-Sorbonne on May 25, 2021, in Paris. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree (M1) in Management and Economics of Haitian Local Government at a University in Cap-Haïtien. Her influence in the Haitian community contributes to the participation of many women, which underscores her emphasis on the importance of education in Haitian society.

Néhémie Bastien (27 years old): The Haitian actress was recently spotted at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021. She stars in the film “Freda” and has been nominated by the Sotigui Academy for the African Audience Sotigui Awards and the 2022 Oscars. The film won the François Chalais Special Prize at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in 2021. “Freda” also won the Fespaco Silver Stallion and the Best Sound Award at the 27th Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou.

Marc Guerson-Philistin (29 years old): As a dedicated journalist, he researched the column “Majority Opinion” while continuing his outstanding reporting at Radio Télévision Caraïbes FM. He has been working at RTVC since August 2015. He co-hosts the Creole short story program “Denye Okazyon” and the cultural program “Sabado Latino.” Marc-Guerson Philistin is a founding member of the Haitian Association of Investigative Journalists (AHJI). For his reporting on the justice system, he was awarded the Rock Cadet Prize in the Court Columnist category at the School of Magistracy on October 20, 2021.

Marie Bedjine Love David (23 years old): Since releasing the “Pouki’n te marye?” in collaboration with K-dilak in December 2020 (the clip has over 16 million views on YouTube), the powerful singer has already entered the Hollywood arena and has been compared to Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in 2021.

Cantave K. (25 years old): He gave up his medical studies to pursue his passion as a comedian, inspired by the sociopolitical call for a reorganization of the socio-political climate in Haiti. His voice propelled him to widespread popularity on social media with his sketches on political and social issues. Thanks to director Freda Gessica Geneus, the comedian made the leap into international cinema. In July 2021, Cantave performed at the Cannes International Film Festival alongside Néhémie Bastien and Gessica.

Richard Pierrin (19 years old): A passionate photographer attended a photography course and seminar with renowned photojournalist Dieu-Nalio Chéry in 2020. After completing the course, he had the opportunity to fully utilize and expand his photographic skills and obtained a freelance position at Getty Images, one of the largest international photo agencies.

Pascale Belony (28 years old): A model and trained nurse, she was crowned Miss Haiti 2021. She has registered for her next pageant, Miss Universe 2021 in December, and will represent Haiti. She was the runner-up in Miss Haiti 2019, Miss Supra-Nationale Haiti 2021, and Miss SupraCaribbean 2021, making Pascal Bélony the country’s most win Miss to date. An activist for women’s health and holistic health, she recently represented Haiti in the 12th Miss Supranational beauty pageant in Poland, placing among the top 24.

Sabiana Anestor (27 years old): First Haitian woman judo competitor at the Olympic Games. From July 23 to August 8, 2021, she was ranked 111th in the world in the -52 kg weight class. At 1.65 m, she won the Pan American bronze medal in Punta Cana 2021 and finished seventh at the 2021 Pan American Championships in Guadalajara. Despite her early defeat at the Tokyo Olympics (0-10), she hopes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Obed Lamy (29 years old): Haitian journalist and media director, won the Best Emerging Filmmaker award at the Fayetteville Film Festival for his documentary “Once Forgotten.” This documentary has been screened at several other film festivals, including the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, the Capital City Festival, the Montgomery Film Festival, and the Toronto Black Film Festival. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in journalism, holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration, and studied mass communications at Haiti State University.

Youseline Vital (30 years old): The genius behind Payèt Design, a company specializing in sequin and bead painting. On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, she received the “Fanm Angaje 2021” award from the Haitian Center for Leadership and Excellence (CLE). From September 25 to 26, 2021, she presented her first painting exhibition, titled “ETENSÈL.” In November, she was included in the top 10 Haitian artisans by the international sports media company Sportskeeda after contacting Naomi Osaka through social media, who at the time was looking for an original creator and painter of Haitian art landscapes.
